Vintage Find: Beatles T-Shirt

Hey everybody! Last week I thrifted for the first time at Buffalo Exchange. It's similar to Plato's Closet, where you can sell your new/ gently used clothing items for store credit. I scored some awesome vintage t-shirts, one of them shown here. It's a Beatle's shirt, with "Hey Jude" written on the bottom.

Also, I got my hair trimmed and really loved how the hairdresser styled my hair. She complimented me on my handiwork regarding my bangs! I chopped off several inches, and it's very odd having normal length hair.

Hope you enjoyed!

I Heart Sundresses

Hey everybody!

I fell in love with this dress, because it's the perfect summery piece. The toned down royal blue makes the citrus heart accents pop! I paired it with a bright orange clutch, a London-inspired bracelet, and lovely brown oxford shoes. Also, I was very happy with how well my hair curled and wanted to take pictures before all the curls flattened!

Hope you enjoyed!

Colored Mascara

Hey everybody!

I've spent the last couple of weeks searching high and low for Maybelline's new limited edition colored mascara. Finally, I was able to find them at a local Walgreen's! I couldn't decide on a single color, so I did what any logical person would do and bought one of each. I must have been in luck, since all Maybelline makeup happened to be "Buy One, Get One %50 Off".

Here are all four of the colors. The come in a baby blue "Totally Teal", a royal blue "Blink of Blue", a vibrant violet "Pop of Purple" and winter forest green "Go Go Green".

*Note: I primed my lashes with a white cream eyeshadow prior to each application. Otherwise, the colors wouldn't have shown up so well on my dark lashes.

The first color I tried out was "Go Go Green." It applied more vibrantly than I expected! All of the mascaras were pretty standard, as far as length and volume are concerned.

Next up we have "Blink of Blue." I think this is the color I would use more on a daily basis without a primer, since the dark blue supposedly makes the whites of the eyes appear brighter!

"Totally Teal" gave the most dramatic look to my lashes, since the color is so light. I was impressed with the vibrancy, and I can see myself using this on my lower lashes for an unexpected pop of color!

"Pop of Purple" provided a nice, deep purple finish to my lashes. I expected more of a pink toned purple, and found that this looked very similar to "Blink of Blue."

Ultimately, I'm super excited about these mascaras, and can't wait to use them more!

Until next time,

August Birchbox 2012

Hey everybody!

Here are the products I got in my August birchbox. The theme was back to school, and contained beauty essentials. Even the information card looked like an info pamphlet.

The first product I picked up was the Schick razor and is the Birchbox "extra" (which I find odd, since it's the only full sized product). I really needed to throw out my old razor, so this was perfect! So far, I like it because it's lined with some sort of moisturizer and has 5 blades.

Next we have the beauty fixation cuticle conditioner. I haven't had a chance to use it yet, but I think the idea is pretty nifty. There are 24 cotton swabs that are hollowed out in the plastic part, and filled with the cuticle conditioner. In order to release the conditioner, simply twist one end of the swab (think glow stick!).

Here we have two products from Wei. The first is the Pomegranate Buffing Beads, which are dry and gritty beads that you add to your regular face cleanser. It helps with exfoliation, and I enjoyed the smell!  The other product is the Golden Root Purifying Mud Mask, which I'm excited to use.

Then we have the fragrance sample, which typically comes in most if not all of the boxes. This one comes from Juicy Couture, and in the Viva La Juicy "La Fleur" perfume. I'm not a fan of the original scent, but I'm surprised to find that I like this one! It has a fun, flirty, floral scent as the name suggests.

Lastly we have some Stila single-use face samples. This little packet includes a BB cream, foundation, and concealer. However, I'm not sure if I can use it since the foundation and concealers seem several shades too dark.

Here's an overview of all of the entire box, to get a sense of scale amongst the samples. Overall, I'm once again pleased with this month's box. I think my favorite product is the razor, even though it's so practical!

Until next time,

Mini Texan Roadtrip

Hey everybody!
Here are some pictures from a mini road trip my family and I took. Our first stop was Austin, Texas. We spent the evening at the Oasis, a fun restaurant/ bar that offers free music on Sunday. It was a really fun time!

Check out the view from the restaurant! It overlooks Lake Travis, and we were seated just as the sun was dipping below the horizon. A fun tradition they have at the Oasis is to ring a bell as soon as the sun disappears!

After spending the night in Austin, we drove up to Fort Worth. We didn't really spend time site seeing, but we caught up  with some friends who live there. We drove over to Dallas after chatting with our friends that evening. The next day, we passed through the small city of Rockwall. I used to live there 5 or 6 years ago, so it was amazing seeing how much it had expanded and grown. Here's a stalker picture I took of my old elementary school; it was the last school I went to before we moved overseas and homeschooled.
Later that day, we drove from Dallas down to College Station, and visited the Texas A&M campus. My parents both attended, and it's during college when they both met- how sweet! Throughout the day, we went by old spots that my parents used to hang out in, and my mom explained some of the traditions that go on at this campus.

Shown below is the statue where students go before a major test. They'll put pennies near the statue's feet for good luck!

After a long day of walking around campus in the hot sun, we stopped by Chuy's for some yummy tex-mex food before our drive back to San Antonio.

Hope you all enjoyed!
